I wouldn't have been able to design this infographic without the helpful resources from a Swiss Designer by the name of Daniele Catalonotto. . This service designer compiles an impressive amount of service design resources, one of which was his own understanding of the history of service design through his book "A Tiny History of Service Design". I found a YouTube video of him giving a talk at a Service Design Conference where he discussed a list of 10 service design dates that you should remember if you are passionate about the topic. From there, I discovered a handful of other helpful resources that he has compiled and verified through the help of the service design community. Daniele also has a lot of excellent Medium guides where he compiles a plethora of other resources, from jobs, to books, to YouTube channels. All of which were invaluable in the journey of this infographic, in particular to the continued learning opportunities section of the infographic.
For the current career paths, I watched an interview on the Service Design Show YouTube channel in which Marc Fonteijn interviews a service designer named Alessandra Canella. In this interview, Alessandra discusses her service deign career, learning experiences and tips for those of us interested in the making a career out of service design. For the final section of this infographic, I discovered a slide deck from Livework Studio where they discuss the next 10 years of service design. In this deck, I found four exciting future roles that they believe will be common in the next few years. Finally, I decided to end the infographic with some "inspiration" for those interested in pursuing a service design career. This section contains some insights that I found inspirational from Alessandras interview. They resonated with me and I hope that they can provide some inspiration for anyone else as well.
